Full disclosure.

I am not here to help you achieve your “perfect body.” I don’t do diets, and I am not at all interested in guilt tripping you into gruelling, mind-numbing workouts at the gym. So, if you’re looking for a one-size-fits-all, quick fix person whose sole purpose is to push a particular diet-plan and pump you full of empty promises, I can’t help you. Seriously, I can’t.

I can hear your thoughts already; if you can’t help me get to my goal weight, or show me how and what to eat so I can have my dream body, what DO you do?!?”

I’m so happy you asked.

As a Body Image Coach, my purpose is to help you feel more confident, comfortable and at home in your body, and to give you the support you need so you can accept yourself as you are, RIGHT NOW!

Time and time again, I have been asked how I manage to do this. Having overcome my own craziness around food and with my body (click here for more on that), I have pinpointed the specific tools and strategies that have supported me on my journey, and have since discovered that they can be successfully applied to the women I work with!

Wanna know what some of them are? Well today is your lucky day!

Mind-Body Connection! Body Image issues are not about the body. Food issues are not about the food. So, how can someone like me help? With a background in Psychotherapy and Holistic Health and Wellness Coaching, I will work with you so that you can figure out exactly WHY you are hating on your body, or struggling with food. “Fat” is technically not a feeling, and devouring your kid’s Halloween candy is not a healthy way to cope with a stressful day. Your thoughts and feelings influence the way you feel about your body, and the way you treat your body influences your thoughts and feelings. Do you see where I am going with this?

The body and mind simply CANNOT be treated independently of one another. My role in all of this is to help you get to the root causes of your food and body image issues, with an emphasis on guiding you to live IN your body, rather than trying to control it.

Ditch the diets! Ahhh, diets! And scales, and apps, and food logs, oh my! Simply put, they suck! They’re just these rigid, shitty little things that make us THINK we are gaining control, when in fact they are secretly controlling us. At this point, my experience, specialized knowledge and related skill-sets, combined with all the work you’ve done on your mind/body connection will be uncovered and translated back into your life. Yes, it can be hard, but that is why I am here: to support you in a way that sets you up for success so that you can take life by the balls and break free from the diet-hell once and for all!

Love to move! For so many people, exercise is looked at as a chore, a dreaded task they must do to burn off something they ate, or look a certain way. And, if all that work put in at the gym fails to result in weight loss, working out becomes the enemy.

No. Just, no.

Body confidence is in no way, shape or form related to an individual’s level of fitness, and it is certainly not my mission to change the way you look. Instead, I want to help you get to a place where you move your body in a way that is empowering, exciting and fun. Number of calories burned, miles logged, or hours spent at the gym have no place in Body Image Coaching. As someone who used to suffer from a serious exercise addiction, I promise you that a healthy body image and a healthy lifestyle can co-exist, without self-hate rearing its ugly head.

So many people I speak to think finding peace with themselves and food is easy. They think they can do it on their own, or “start fresh” tomorrow. But what hasn’t worked for them in the past is not going to work for them now. The journey to a healthy relationship with food and body is just that- a journey. And what is a journey without some wrong turns and unexpected detours? It is my job to help you find your way back, to help you learn to forgive yourself for “f..king” up, and to help you realize that your self-worth is not at all related to the size of your jeans, or the number on your scale.
