Coconut oil is a naturally amazing superfood product but very few of us know about the truly great benefits. So here is the deal on what coconut oil can do for you:

1. It can help you lose weight, yes really! It maximises your energy expenditure and reduces your need to eat so many calories because of the appetite reducing ketone bodies in it.

2. Its health benefits are endless. It reduces the risk of heart problems, obesity, helps you fight off infections and has even been known to have therapeutic effects for people who suffer from brain disorders.

3. It makes you look gorgeous. It can help protect your hair from everyday damage, makes your skin soft and with a small drop, can be used as sunscreen!

4. It’s delicious. This might be the most important one. It’s tasty no matter what you pair it with, plus if you are trying to eat healthier it can really jazz up a chicken breast.

5. Oil pulling. You may not have heard of this but it’s incredible! You simply pop a tablespoon of coconut oil into your mouth first thing in the morning, swill it round like you would mouthwash for 20 minutes and then spit it into the bin.  This might sound strange, but it helps with mouth related issues like cavities, bad breath, bacteria and it really does brighten your smile. It also improves skin problems and the occasional hangover. Now you can see why you should be using coconut oil everyday whether you cook with it, drink it or give oil pulling a try, you just can’t go wrong with this superfood! So what are you waiting for?

Are you sure you need to swirl 20 mins? Seems awfully long. BTW, do keep in mind that coconut oil mainly consists of saturated fats. Avocado oil has a much higher burn point, so good for frying, and has better fats. Tasts great as well. 🙂

Hi you can start with 5min 🙂 and then go up from there. coconut oil is good for frying, however fried food is really not as good as baked food or food you cook in a steamer, steam or with a bit of water. After you have cooked you food you can add the native coconut oil and you will benefit most from it.
